TJ was the best part each morning. When he wasn't there we all noticed, and if one of us wasn't there he noticed. He had the best memory and always made you feel cared for. He never missed a day to cheerfully welcome us with “good morning” and the brightest smile. Each week we restarted our countdown to the weekend. And each day he’d remind me of how many days left, once Friday morning came around, we’d both laugh and say, “only 8 more hours!” He made me smile even on days I didn’t want to. TJ always remembered. He knew whose car was whose, whose significant other was whose and when someone was there to pick you up he’d know who it was. When my boyfriend learned the news he said, “you really loved him.”
I recently visited the office during the closure, and he told me he had to give me a hug because he was so excited to see me again. How could I resist?! And I'm so glad I did. We chatted for about 20 minutes and he couldn't stop talking about how much he missed seeing everyone. I helped explain to him what roles each person had in the company and I remember his shock when he learned that he was best friends with all the top dogs… “I talk to them every day and had no idea, they’re all just so nice to me!” he said. I tried convincing him I was one, but he caught that fib pretty quickly ;) He'd stand out front with Ziggy (a German Shepard) and if I didn't know the two - I would never mess with that duo. But knowing him is knowing how gentle and caring he is. His excitement for birthday celebrations was the best. He’d walk down the street and pick up cupcakes for the extra special birthdays. He especially loved the cupcake that looked like a dog. I’ll never forget him saying, “It’s just so cute” when he showed me the cupcake for the first time. As much as he loved his dog cupcake, nothing compared to the pure joy he expressed whenever talking about his niece.
TJ was an amazing man and I will forever cherish having his big heart as a part of my life. Walking into 119 won't be the same without TJ holding the door open like the gentleman that he was. We miss you TJ and hope you’re resting easy knowing how much we all adore you.
