As Women In News (WIN) Botswana, we are sorely saddened by the passing of our Africa Director, Dr. Tikhala Chibwana. He was our father, leader, mentor, coach, trainer and an inspiration to many media practitioners not only in the Sub Saharan region but the globe as a whole.
Dr. T as he was passionately known believed in spotting talent and nurturing it. He gave us the motivation to believe in ourselves. Above all, he gave us a voice and encouraged us to aim high. We always had unique experiences having him around in our WIN gatherings because of his resourcefulness in knowledge and wisdom that he shared with us. His main focus was often on personal development and career growth. He challenged our mindset and we were inspired to become go-getters in many aspects of lives. We will always remember him as an exemplary leader and a champion of women empowerment. He leaves behind a rich legacy that will live on both in our personal and professional lives.
Dr T’s passing comes exactly after two years when we lost another ardent media icon, Beata Kasale who was a pioneer in media women empowerment and upliftment. Kasale introduced WIN to Botswana and exposed Botswana WINners to a broader WIN community and its services.
May Dr T’s soul rest in eternal peace. In Setswana we say, 'A mowa wa gagwe o robale ka kagiso.' Till we meet again!
