Terry Tyler

September 1, 1964 - January 17, 2021

Terry was first introduced to me and the Abbey Road team back in July 2017. A real gentleman who we immediately liked and struck up a rapport with. Terry was such a nice person, easy going and always on call to assist the team not because he had to but because he wanted to. Terry quickly understood what we were trying to achieve and he ensured that LJJ and their supply adopted the same standards, whether that was safety or quality related. Terry was always first to offer his services and support for any community events and never ever let us down. LJJ have lost a real asset to their team and we have lost a gentleman and friend, but more importantly his family have lost their Dad and Grandad and husband. RIP Terry and I have the last text message you sent me on 06.01.21 where we bantered about the Arsenal’s improved performances over Christmas and you replied “top the league the time I get out lol”. What can I say about Terry that hasn’t already been said. He was always willing and happy to help out whatever the situation. Great to work with, fun and the one we all wanted to have on your project as he made the day to day things tasks smoothly. He got to work before me and would welcome me with a big smile saying, “cup of tea Dave”, and the tea was always in a clean mug. Terry will be dearly missed by everyone that he worked with and the people he only spoke to on the phone, everyone remembers Terry, once met never forgotten. RIP Terry

I met Terry back in 2016, the day I walked into the site office for the first time, Terry gave me a glare and a scare. Within minutes of talking to him though, I thought Terry was one of the nicest gents out there. I never expected to be welcomed to the new workplace in such a way, Terry made every moment enjoyable, and every issue bearable. He was the "man with a plan". We all miss you dearly Tel and we will always remeber you and the happiness you spread

To echo some of the words of others Terry was a loyal, honest and hard working family man with a passion for Health & Safety. It was this passion that led him to achieve recognition and numerous awards for his attitude and leadership in site H&S. These awards formed a healthy rivalry and competition between LJJ's Northern & Southern Teams with Terry continually setting the standard for others to follow. It was this competition that led to whenever the name 'Terry Tyler' was mentioned it led a moment of applause across our sites and I am sure that this will continue along with a moment to remember Terry and his contribution to LJJ. Its clear that Terry has had a positive impact on the career of all he has worked with and I know what a support he has been to David Rodley, Scott Wilson and Charley Kirsop in particular, these guys cannot speak highly enough of Terry and he will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by all at LJJ.

Terry was a true gentleman. He was loyal, honest, caring and above all genuine, what you saw with Terry was what you got. He always worked with commitment and dedication to every task he was given and never moaned about anything. He loved Health & Safety unlike most people and we enjoyed talking about this on many occasions. My nickname for him was Terry Towelling which he answered to without a care. He would help anyone at anytime, and would always be the first to make sure everyone had a brew on site first thing in the morning, and in a clean cup!!! I will miss you so much Terry, they broke the mould when they made you. I hope you have been given the biggest halo, and the biggest beautiful pair of wings as you deserve them, as you really did earn those both when you were with us. Fly high Terry Towelling...…….XX

Having meet Terry on my first day with LJJ on the Wedge House contract, he made feel welcome right away putting the kettle on reminding me to do my time sheets, always keeping a watchful and caring eye over me as a new starter, we checked in from time to time, asking hows it going on your job !! looking forward to working together again on the next one. Such a great loss, such a great person, i wish i had known him longer. All our Love, Peter and Family.

Terry was so much fun to work with and had time for everyone. He always got involved in any mad cap community ideas and championed them. I will miss our morning chats and his banter with the site team. He is a huge loss to all of us at Knowles House

I had the pleasure of knowing Terry, originally as a colleague at both companies we worked at together, but latterly as a friend. Terry was a really lovely man and would always go out of his way to help others with no task being too large or difficult. He was dedicated to his job, taking a great interest in health and safety, and quality and would accommodate challenges with total dedication and commitment. It is a tribute to Terry that clients would personally request that he was involved on their projects and there were many times when I wished that we could have cloned him! I used to really enjoy visiting Terry's sites because I would always be welcomed and I would be encouraged that the projects were in very safe hands. I will miss our chats about football and the way that we would be able to have a joke at each others expense without causing offence. He was a true gentleman who adored his family and would speak about them so proudly. I am privaledged and honoured that I knew him and although his passing is so painful to many his memory will live on. RIP Terry, I will miss you
