Stacy Michelle McGahey, 55, of Oklahoma City, OK, died peacefully on August 6, 2023 surrounded by family. Stacy was born to Phyllis D Coulson and Greg Strother on April 29, 1968. She graduated from Western Heights High School in 1986 and received a degree in Respiratory Therapy from Francis Tuttle Vocational School in 1989. She welcomed her “babygirl” Tiffany Vernon in 1988. Stacy and Samuel McGahey married on July 4, 2000. They shared a life together in Moore, Oklahoma. She is preceded in death by her mother, Phyllis; father, Greg; husband, Sam; and sister Rea Strother. She is survived by her daughter, Tiffany; grandson, Kevin Vernon; sisters Kimberly Strother and Shawnda McBride and her husband, Steve McBride; brother, Rodney Morgan; nephews Michael Strother and Steven McBride; nieces Nikki Weeks and Brittany McBride. Stacy most enjoyed hosting family in her home to cheer on the Oklahoma Sooners or Green Bay Packers while taking every opportunity to tease any Dallas Cowboy fans in the room. Stacy was immensely proud to be Tiffany’s mother. She came alive to music of all genres, but mostly the Eagles and Metallica. Stacy will live on in the hearts of the many who loved her. I took Stacy to see Travis Tritt a few years ago when he came to Riverwind. We had awesome seats, about 5 rows back from the stage & in the center! I pulled my phone out to get it ready for when he came out onto the stage & decided to grab a pic of me & Stacy first .... Luckily I did, cause that was the ONLY photo I got that night! LOL! I forgot to charge my phone before the concert! I MISS her soooo much already! She was always there for us when she was able to be. I LOVE YOU, Stacy! Always & Forever!

I remember the week me and David Zeba and my little dog babygirl spent with Stacy we had such a great time. But there was One night we went over to shawnda and Steve house and on our way back Stacy got herself completely turned around and for some reason we couldn't stop laughing long enough to see right turn so for quite some time we just lived in our moment and laughed and even when we ran outta gas had to call for a ride and had no idea where we were we didn't care that was the last And final time I felt free and filled with laughter So thank you Stacy.!!! As a friend of Tiffany, Stacy was a big part of my life as a kid. Stacy was always so authentically herself. She lived and loved passionately. I come from a tough love family who doesn’t often express pride. Stacy wasn’t that way. She would be the first to celebrate you. If you’re the kind of person to blow off accomplishments, she would make sure you took the time to recognize what you did. No accomplishment was too small to her. She wouldn’t hesitate if she thought you were selling yourself short or deserved something better either. But no matter how blunt she could be in telling you what she thought, you ALWAYS knew it was coming from a place of love. I listen to almost exclusively country and pop music, while my husband’s taste run the gambit. He quickly got used to me requesting he change the playlist unless he was on his country one. I vividly remember System of a Down Toxicity coming on and scream singing it in the car. My husband looked at me like an alien had taken over my body. I said, “oh, this is what we listened to with my friends mom growing up.” There’s some music I just can’t hear without thinking about singing it in the car with Stacy driving us around town. I’m lucky enough to have small pieces of Stacy as a part of myself from being around her in those formative years. Tiffany is all the best parts of Stacy; her zest for life, her passion, her ability to celebrate people, her authenticity in who she is. I’m so grateful that I got to experience those things with Stacy and will continue to see them live on in Tiffany.
