Bor Deuta - a nice, genuine and sweet soul who made an impression on me from the time I first met him. He is like the season of spring which unlike the winter, summer or autumn doesn’t make a huge noise; but instead makes one feel even more positive and rejuvenated by simply being in its essence and fulfilling its basic purpose. Spring comes in with the vibe of a new mood in the air and a pleasant feeling all around us. Although spring comes with a silent impact, it reminds us that the past is over and there are new chances always around us. In a way it is more catalytic and potent as it makes us feel even more motivated as well as gives us a feeling of renewed hope. It makes us feel anew, wanting us to partake in the passionate cycle of life along with its festivals and all its merriments.
As a daughter-in-law it is always intimidating when one comes to a new family – getting to know it and familiarising oneself with the dynamics of the new family. One feels like being constantly on one's toes, scrutinised or maybe being judged at every step. But where Bor Deuta was concerned I always found him to be a gentle and undemanding soul, who made me be myself. I felt comfortable in my own skin and didn’t have to overdo or over think my actions when I was around him.
When one is younger we take these things – meaning the love of our elders and well-wishers for granted. But as one gets older and the world becomes a harsher place, one craves for that same love and affection even more and sometimes also from the most unlikely places. And I realise that for some of us this emotional starvation grows even more in todays materialistic and ego oriented world. Slowly we realise that the world isn’t the same place anymore especially as we lose more and more people around us and sometimes even the anchors like our parents and all other close ones. But once in a while you meet people who make one feel so positive and nice about oneself. That positive energy always keeps you nurtured in the most harsh circumstances and gives you the confidence in your relationships with people and overall, the world.
Bor Deuta is one such person who made everyone around him loved without even trying and by just being himself. He was a man of a few words but he led by example. One always remembers people who makes one feel nice and happy, and Bor Deuta was one such person. Hence he will always remain fresh in my memory for the feeling he gave me. And that example is led by his sons today who are equally humble and gentle mannered souls. I have always been more close to Bubu Da of all - being a very social and affectionate person that he is and without doubt he surely is a living example of Bor Deuta. Happy to see Bor Deuta’s legacy remains as I bid him adieu in his new place next to none other than the One who loves us all the most. Thank you Bor Deuta. God bless you with happiness and peace always.
