Sending very sincere condolences to Sam's family, friends, and all those who knew and love her - what an enormous, sudden and devastating loss. Though the world is surely a darker place without Sam, in her too-short lifetime, she's also made it a better place for so many. She leaves a huge legacy through her love, kindness, wisdom, care, humour and encouragement. I didn't know Sam well, but in 25+ years, I've never seen anyone take postgrad research by the horns quite like Sam did - in the midst of all kinds of obstacles and demands, she got stuck in with grace, determination and brilliance. To this day I have absolutely no idea how, but she met the deadline, and set a record I haven't seen before, and doubt I will ever see achieved again! A truly remarkable woman. My thoughts are with you all x
