Rotn. Eyitayo Oluyemisi Oloko-Faniran is an amazing soul, an embodiment of great energy. She is warm, strict, but also loving. A mother to all. Lots of words to describe her, but choosing a few, she was a devoted Christian, a strong woman, a teacher, and a mentor. As fondly called by many, Grandma, because she takes everyone under her care. Born in 1957, in the village of Ola, Osun State, Nigeria, she went on to study and became a teacher with a teaching experience spanning over 3 decades; she retired as a principal. She is blessed with a son. We will remember her forever.

Aunty Yemisi, words cannot express the depth of my sorrow knowing I will no longer see you on this side of eternity. Death feels so unfair! But, I am deeply grateful for the gift of having you as my aunt, and for all the beautiful moments we shared as a family. Your legacy of love, generosity, and strength will live on in all of us. We love you dearly, but your Redeemer loves you even more. Rest peacefully, Aunty, until we meet again.

The multiple holiday visits at your house... I remember them. Fresh in my mind. You treated me as your own. I was with you at Eleyele and also Adegbayi. You've always believed in me. Those years when nobody understood the type of adult I was growing to be as a kid, you believed in me and told me so, even when you didn't understand it yourself. That your laughter, your industry, your unquenchable thirst to excel... I remember. You embraced my wife and kids, just as you did with other people's kids too. You are one of the good ones, I am sure. Antie, thank you, for all the good memories.

Tribute to My Beloved Aunty, Yemisi Eyitayo Faniran Oloko Aunty Yemisi, a pillar of strength and a shining example to all. Your life was a testament to your unwavering resilience, compassion, and generosity. You have no doubt left indelible marks on the sand of time by impacting lives. You impacted lives of families at nuclear and extended levels, while friends, and even distant relations were not left out. Your aspirations, most of which have now become legacies, are tall, bold and inspiring ; they touch hearts and minds. Though you may be gone, but I am confident that those memories and legacies shall endure and will continue to inspire and motivate us. We shall definitely miss you dearly. Good Night, Auntie Yemisi We never imagined 2024 would bring the heartbreak of losing you, but here we are, left with no choice but to accept this heavy blow with gratitude for the beautiful memories you gave us. Auntie Yemisi — as we have fondly called her since I first learned to speak — was so much more than just an aunt. She was my friend, a unique and irreplaceable gem: unrelenting, energetic, warm, kind, loving, and self-sacrificing. Strict when necessary, but always generous and caring. As a teacher par excellence, your influence went beyond your immediate family. You shaped lives and transformed destinies, leaving a legacy that will live on in those you touched, whether family members or strangers. Though many moments from my childhood blur with time, there’s one memory of you I’ll always cherish. On July 4th, 1981, you showed up at our home with a birthday cake and your best friend. It was my 10th birthday, but I have been ill for many days, and my family had no plans for a celebration. But, suddenly, I felt strength return as you turned an ordinary day into a joyful one for me and the neighborhood kids. That’s who you were—someone who brought light and joy when it was least expected. Even in your final days, you embodied kindness, showing up for those in need, even when it was inconvenient. The Fanirans have lost a treasure, and our hearts ache at your departure. Goodbye, dearest Aunt. We’re not ready to let you go, but we entrust you to the One who loves you most.
