This is truly shocking and terrible news. I knew Richard well having led him in three substantial cases, he was an excellent barrister and a really nice person he was very kind to me during the time I was ill and came often to visit me in hospital and helped keep my spirits up.
We will all greatly miss Richard as a really excellent member of chambers. I hope that we can find out from his wife Claire whether there is any practical help we can give; I myself know only too well how sudden illness can have a devastating effect on a family so please let us ask whether we can give practical help and if so then do so.
