Beautiful voice. Lovely lady. Heading In The Right Direction was my favourite song by Renée. Her voice reminded me of Diana Ross with that song; yet was so different with Say I Love You, showing her versatility. I still remember an old article from I think The Women’s Weekly , when Renée described herself as a “ goil “ instead of a girl ! She just had to be something different ! Heading In The Right Direction is especially sentimental to me, though it was actually John Farnham cover version, ( a real compliment to Renée that John covered her song) Shortly after meeting my boyfriend I would walk into a local gift shop where a CD of John Farnham Aussie covers would be playing. Three times in a row I walked into that shop and the song that immediately would start playing would be Heading In The Right Direction. I took this as a sign that Eddy and I were meant to be. This was in 2016. I have been singing since I was two and entertaining people since I was four. I can now since five and a half octaves. You need to breathe gently like Elvis, so as not to strain and to have greater flexibility. Renée sure knew how to breathe. That would be why she was still able to sing in concerts even with lung disease: because she didn’t overbreathe. I could relate to so many aspects of her story: attention seeking: getting upset with hotel staff . It’s hard when you are a temperamental Prima Donna ! But sometimes cool too. Singing has gotten me a free cab ride; the star treatment at Melbourne and Canberra airports and the star treatment from a London cabbie too. Plus compliments from a London Bobby ( Policeman ) who had missed hearing me sing Feed The Birds on the steps of Saint Paul’s Cathedral and asked to hear me sing. Best was sing at La Mer Catherine ( Paris restaurant with my name ) dates from late 1790s. Sang Elvis song Can’t Help Falling In Love with piano player in restaurant. Sang almost entire song solo. He just joined in for last couple of lines. Received lots of applause. II believed there is an afterlife and Renée will be a singing angel now, God bless her ! My deepest sympathies to her family, friends, fans, etc. You are really fortunate though to have recordings of her voice and her videos of performances. She will have immortality in that way. A unique voice, a unique person, loved by many, gone but not to be forgotten. An everlasting treasure of a talent.
