Miriam D'Andrea was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1943, and moved to South Africa as a young child, where she would spend her life dedicated to education, personal growth, and the pursuit of knowledge. A deeply respected and beloved English teacher, she taught at Parktown Boys and Veritas College (Springs Convent), where her passion for learning touched countless lives. Miriam’s career culminated in her role as principal of both Holy Rosary College and Veritas College, where she led with vision, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to her students and staff.
Even after retiring, Miriam's thirst for knowledge never waned. She completed a master's degree in the Philosophy of Theology, deepening her understanding of spirituality and the human condition. A lifelong reader, thinker, and seeker of wisdom, she remained intellectually engaged throughout her life.
Miriam was not only an educator but also a loving wife, mother, aunt, friend, and nonna to her 12 grandchildren. Her legacy of kindness, learning, spirituality, and intellect will continue to live on through the many lives she touched. She leaves behind a message of love, compassion, and the importance of lifelong learning, values that will be carried forward by those who knew and loved her.
