I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Matt’s passing. I have known Matt for over 30 years following his move to Ernst & Young in Liverpool, sharing an office with him in the early days. Matt was a truly genuine and thoughtful person and soon became more than just a work colleague. Despite being an extremely busy time in our profession, Matt was always keen on organising activities. I remember that he persuaded me to get back into playing squash during lunch break escapes to Bootle Sports Centre - until my knees said no more! Later on, it would be golf on a wet and windy Saturday morning at Beacon Park. It was always enjoyable being in Matt’s company. Later on I went to work with him at Robson Rhodes until he moved to pastures new, but he has always been there for me with help and assistance when needed. The world is a poorer place without Matt and my thoughts go out to Sue, Christian and Annie at this sad time. Rest in Peace my friend.
