Throughout her life, Marylyn was actively involved with the church. Across Cumbria and Greater Manchester, she was a church deacon, a Sunday school and Bible school teacher, an officer in the church lad’s brigade, and a choir member. Marylyn was known for her fundraising for charities such as Mencap and The Leprosy Mission, as well as for taking part in countless Christian outreach programmes (which included spending time in Bosnia shortly after the war).
Throughout her career, she was fiercely dedicated to providing support for vulnerable people, working for decades with people with severe learning disabilities. Marylyn was actively involved in her community, and regularly attended art classes. She travelled extensively throughout her life, visiting such places as America, the Balkans, Jerusalem and the Holy Land.
She will be missed greatly by her many friends and family members, particularly her sister, niece and nephew.
