I only had to mention...’me and Marc are hoping one day to do some travelling in New Zealand’ and I bet you can guess how the following 3 hours went...
Back when I was an apprentice at DCC they asked what area would you like to work in if you had the choice, for some unknown reason I said property (sounded interesting I suppose compared to bins?!) a day later I’m greeted by Martin...welcome to highways! We once held an apprentice cake sale, managers were invited to attend and I’ll be honest I didn’t think Martin would come along, how wrong was I...he arrived early...asked which cake was mine and asked to buy the whole cake.
That to me is the perfect example of who Martin was, always early and such a kind hearted soul.
Somehow are paths crossed again and I have been working alongside him doing TRO’s for the past 4 years. It has been a hard four years and we were finally at a place where things were on the up, I only wish you were here to see it. I can’t explain how much you will be missed, you have been a huge part of mine and Marcs lives and selfishly who is going to give me advice on the Lake District?! I should never have taken those looooong conversations for granted, so for that I am sorry. I am deeply saddened that you won’t be around and I send my deepest sincerest condolences to your lovely family who you spoke so highly of.
