Following the King's Cross fire Mark was selected to lead a small team to examine all types of existing rolling stock on LU. The "Rolling Stock Safety Task Force" was born. The brief was to look into and document the type and condition of all materials used in construction and observe other characteristics such as internal cleanliness. The task force took about a year to complete the work reporting to the Chief Rolling Stock Engineer on a four weekly basis. The outcome was a major strip out and internal refurbishment of most of the fleets with many additional safety mods identified and implemented. The refurbishment of the stock also led to the carbodies being painted to make trains brighter and external cleaning easier. The "Orsman" livery was the result being designed and developed on Mark's kitchen table and showing the consultants how to do it!
