Mark was more than an employee / coworker to me and became a friend over our many years working together. I appreciated and enjoyed our frequent interactions and felt that he had so much to teach and share with all of us, whether it be on a personal, cultural or professional level. I respected his deep intelligence and technical expertise and appreciated his personality and sense of humor. Since my last conversation with him was 4 months ago, I regret the fact that I did not have the opportunity to say goodbye and let him know how much I cared about him and how much he will be missed. I am at least grateful that he was able to enjoy the last months of his life with his wife and daughter in Canada.
