I met Margarita and Charles Lytle in late 1967. My then wife Beverly and I visited with them often, especially in the summers around their swimming pool. My memories are of good conversation, good humor, and pleasant times. I was the friend whose turn it was to sit with Charles the night that he died. He was a good friend and we missed him very much. Our sons Jeff and Damon were roughly the same ages as Michael John and Lauren, and we shared the pleasure of watching our kids grow up. We also got to know Margarita's mother fairly well. After Beverly and I divorced, Margarita made a special effort to help me through the transition that followed. She and Michael John later helped decorate the house in which Barbara and I lived after we were married. Over those same years, I remember watching with awe as Margarita raised her two children, established a successful business in Madison, NJ, and maintained friendships with numerous people. So many memories. I remember when she said that she was going to return to London. We were sad to see her go, but we knew that she had strong ties there. We didn't see each other much after that, but occasionally we talked briefly on the phone, and we were able to follow a little of the lives of Michael John and Lauren and to hear occasionally about the grandchildren she loved. Best to all of you, much love from this side of the pond. And, Michael John, I still hope that you will let me know when you are coming to Princeton for a soccer game. It would be great to see you.
