He was sorely missed up in the North East of Scotland when the regions were redefined, but occasionally we were entertained by him at some of our training courses thereafter. Always guided and nurtured people in his own unique way. Humour, intelligence and respect was always given - and being of a similar age, many a story of his working life on the tools were shared with myself.
