With his genuine kindness, calm demeanor and affectionate smile, Khaled touched us very deeply. He leaves a piece of his big heart in each of us, forever to cherish.
His integrity, compassionate leadership, devoted dedication, and commitment to excellence, set for all of us who have worked with him an exemplary standard to strive towards.
His unwavering commitment to the people of this Arab States region, to development, and to UNDP, is a legacy he entrusts us all to continue with unwavering resolve.
May your gentle soul rest in eternal peace, our dear Khaled. We will always love you. We will miss your presence every day. We will treasure every dear memory. You live on in every one of us.

تخليدا لذكرى زميلنا الحبيب ومديرنا الموقر خالد عبد الشافي.
الذي ترك أثراً عميقاً في كل واحد منا، بلطفه الصادق وسلوكه الهادئ وابتسامته البشوشة الحنونة، تاركاَ لكلٍ منا قطعة من قلبه الكبير لنعتز بها إلى الأبد.
الذي رسخت نزاهته، وقيادته الرحيمة، وتفانيه المخلص، والتزامه بالتميز، لكل من عمل معه وتحت قيادته مثلاً نحتذي به ومعيارًا نسعى لتحقيقه.
ويظل التزامه الثابت تجاه شعوب منطقة الدول العربية، وبتحقيق التنمية لهم من خلال عمل برنامج الأمم المتحدة الإنمائي إرثاً عهد إلينا جميعا بمواصلة الجهد للحفاظ عليه بتصميم لا يتزعزع.
لترقد روحك الطيبة في سلام أبدي يا عزيزينا خالد. سنحبك دائما. وسنفتقد حضورك كل يوم. وسوف نعتز بكل ذكرى عزيزة لنا معك. وستظل روحك الطيبة تعيش في كل واحد منا ما حيينا
