I have such fond memories of John from many influenza and RSV meetings. I met with John this year (2023) twice, once in Utrecht for the PROMISE general annual meeting and once in Milan in September in ESCV meeting. This picture is from the entrance of NIVEL with John, Adam Meijer (RIVM), Siddhi Hirve (WHO HQ) and Anne Teirlinck (RIVM). We had a couple of hours of discussion time in the cafeteria and John showing us around. In all encounters with John, he was always forward thinking, full of ideas, with many ongoing projects, great results to present and always a loved and appreciated colleague.
