My sincere condolences to John's family and close friends - what a shock, so completely unexpected, and unfair too. I have had the pleasure of working with John a lot over the years, on the burden of influenza and RSV mostly. We met in Utrecht and together created the international modeling network that worked out the mortality of the 2009 pandemic for the WHO. I can see that many other posts here use the words that I so agree characterize John: enthusiasm, kindness, and passion for everything --- his work, for his family and life. And a big smile and kind eyes. John will be missed for this by so many colleagues who had also become his friends, around the world. Rest in peace John Paget, you were a real mensch and your time with us here was far too short.
