My sincere condolences to John’s family, friends and colleagues. I was privileged that John was my co-promotor during my PhD. We worked on the APRES project on antimicrobial use and resistance in several European countries. Although we had to work hard, it was always fun with John. Besides being a nice and pleasant person, he also was a very good researcher. I am quite devastated about his sudden passing. May he rest in peace.
