My sincere condolences to Dieneke and family. I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of John. I’ve known him to be such a kind and friendly person since when we first met at scientific conference in Cape Town, South Africa about 10 years ago. I have very fond memories of the days when we worked closely together while I was undertaking my PhD in Netherlands, and the mentorship and connections that he provided - I will greatly miss him! May he rest in eternal peace!
