My sincere condolences to John's family, friends and colleagues. I had the pleasure to work with John a small handful of times the past couple of years and his motivation for public health, his scientific integrity, and his creative mind inspired me. In my work I often thought "I wonder what John would think about this new scientific finding". Most memorable was his kindness, his joy, and his openness to others.
