Reverend John Makanjuola Akpaida was a very unique and selfless man who lived his life in service of people, institutions and in service of God.
With a First Class Degree in Business Management from University of Sussex England, Mr. John Akpaida rose to the pinnacle of his career in his early 40's in the aviation industry starting out with Nigeria Airways in late 60's and later transitioned to British Caledonian Airways/British Airways in Nigeria where he worked a better part of his career. He became the first indigenous airport manager at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, Nigeria in the early 80's and the unopposed Chairman of Airline Operators Committee for 3 consecutive years in mid 80's. Alpha 2 as he's code named was widely known for his poise, professionalism, integrity, dependability, knowledge and superior sense of customer service, Mr. John Akpaida largely grew the portfolio and clientele of his organization and had an outstanding career graced with several achievements and awards of excellence in service, he was instrumental to the setting up of NACHO (Nigerian Aviation Handling Company). He received several personal awards but non was more important than the personal complimentary letters he received from his customers many of which were notable politicians, highly placed government officials, business leaders, traditional rulers and foreign dignitaries especially one of them being from the then Arch Bishop of Canterbury, Robert Runcie. After retirement at an early age and upon receiving the call of God into full time ministry, he became the Founder and Senior Pastor of New Revelation Church of God Inc. in 1999 until his departure.
He is survived by three children and several grandchildren.
