On Saturday, January 16, 2021, Jesse A. Lopez, the loving husband and father of six children, passed away at the age of 79.
Jesse was born April 18, 1941. He met his best friend and the love of his life, Lucy Lopez, in Riverside, California in 1957. After countless dances to their song “We Belong Together”, Jesse and Lucy moved their family from Baldwin Park to Pomona where they purchased their first home. Jesse spent the majority of his life as a father and grandfather in Pomona. As a mechanic by trade, he enjoyed repairing things around the house and creating new inventions. Throughout his life, he enjoyed travelling with his family throughout California, Arizona, Nevada, and Baja California. In fact, his family members and friends can recall his annual family gatherings in Ensenada, BC.
Jesse is also remembered as a generous and helpful person. It was not uncommon for him to extend a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors. Before anyone could make a phone call, Jesse was already headed to help in his pickup truck. Jesse was also an avid boxing fan and enjoyed boxing matches. His family knew better than to get in front of the television during a boxing match. He also enjoyed testing his luck at the slot machines at San Manual and Soboba casinos. His family knew when he was a jackpot winner because he would treat everyone to breakfast the next morning. However, his most memorable trait will always be the love he showed to his family. Jesse adored his mother, who he lost on April 1,1987. And Jesse shared the love his mother, "Nana Pancha", showed him with his beautiful family every day of his life. His love for family and his memory will live on through each of them.
Jesse lived a memorable life. He held his loved ones close to his heart. He was a survivor. He overcame many tribulations and health conditions throughout his life. However, he overcame each challenge he faced with dignity. Jesse believed in living for the present moment and encouraged others to enjoy life to the fullest.
