Memories from the girls (Caroline, Claire and Naomi)
“Kind, caring, full of fun, motivated, selfless, brave, determined, humble, loyal, beautiful, gracious, matter of fact, mischievous, hilarious, wise”.
There are not enough words to describe the qualities and characteristics of our wonderful mum: these are just a few. As mum’s three daughters, we enjoyed precious family time together but mum also provided opportunities for individual time with us, be that chats during car journeys, shopping trips, coffee dates or even over a cup of tea at home where she always wanted to hear about our day. We particularly remember our holidays together as a family. Mum loved the heat and we can still picture her head popping up as she moved slowly through the pool.
The three of us have experienced difficult times in different ways over the years but mum and dad were a team and provided us with consistent support at these times. We are so grateful to have grown up witnessing the steadfast love between our parents. We saw it every day; God was at the centre of their relationship and they both directed us to Christ. Their love, guidance and prayers had a massive impact on our individual faiths.
Day to day we loved playing games, doing jigsaws, one of mum’s favourites, and baking together. She was also great at proof reading our assignments and supporting the three of us in our studies. The last morning mum was at home Caroline was able to share her degree results with mum. And the last celebration we had as a family was the very last minute wedding of Claire and Andrew in our back garden just before lockdown. We cherish these memories and the photographs we have to look back over of this special day. Both
Claire’s husband Andrew and Naomi’s boyfriend Michael are so thankful that they got to know and love mum. Mum tried her hardest to beat Andrew during games nights, and she taught Michael how to make the perfect cup of tea!
To sum up, although death is the enemy, mum didn’t fear death. She trusted in Jesus who conquered death and lived her life knowing her ultimate destination was heaven. Mum was so special and she brought so much joy and happiness to us and to dad. We will miss her more than we can put into words, but we are comforted knowing that she has now been made perfect and is free from all sickness and suffering.
Proverbs 31:25-29
“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.’”
