Irwin Kingsbury Reynolds, sadly passed away on Thursday 14th of December 2023, leaving behind memories that will remain in the hearts of his friends and family. Irwin was the youngest of six children born in White House, Jamaica to Thomas and Jane (Miller) Reynolds on 16th of December 1938.
Known to many friends and family as Duxe, Irwin, always spoke fondly about his childhood memories; flying through the forest on bikes, going to sea with his father who was a fisherman, tending his mother’s shop and the many adventures with his brothers and sisters. Later in life it was his family, the many friends he spent time with and those with whom he enjoyed a great game of dominoes, which he spoke about with a sparkle in his eyes.
He left home to study at West Indies college. Following that he spent some time in Kingston before travelling to England. He always talked about his intention to be an engineer but on arriving in England found a job in the NHS as a biomedical scientist; a job he loved with the varied work and the many friends he made, who all stayed in touch right through to his passing.
While he was in England he got married to his wife of 53 years, Ivorine (nee Glanville), who both knew each other from Jamaica. They married in 1970 and honeymooned in Scotland, a time that they both remembered fondly.
Upon retirement, he kept himself busy, looking after his grandchildren, being more actively involved within the church, where he enjoyed his role as a Deacon and later in life being the main carer for his wife, who has dementia.
He always fostered a loving family environment, especially with his grandchildren, both of whom he loved dearly. He had an active presence in both of their lives, with mum and himself taking them to school nearly every day for over ten years.
He will be best remembered for being the gentle, caring person who always made time to listen and encourage those around him.
He is preceded in death by his brothers Melvin, Ivan and Herman. He is survived by his wife, Ivorine; his sons, Spencer (Nazmin) and Denver; grandchildren, Aden and Zara; sisters, Celeste and Verna; nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
