I taught Hayley as a student and was so happy when she came back to us as our photography tutor! My lasting memory of Hayley is watching her teach. Her calm and measured approach often saw her students mirror this behaviour. I never really had any behavioural issues with her groups. She could also look at them with a stern face and you would immediately fall into place. Rarely used though, thank goodness as it was quite scary!! Hayley meticulously planned her sessions - she always had a file full of planning that spoke of many nights working to prepare the most well organised and informative lessons. Full of images, videos and inspiration. She was so committed and focused.
She was my 'Go to Girl' when ever Ofsted or a visitor looking at the quality of teaching and learning I would proudly direct them to her classes. Especially when they were heading in the direction I didn't want. She would see me coming with the inspector, look at me and with a discreet nod would continue with her class and mesmerise the inspectors with her professionalism and knowledge. She never failed to deliver!
Hayley never gave up on a student and worked so hard in making sure every student was supported properly and had access to everything the college could provide. She would be persistent and relentless in ensuring the thing she wanted to happen got done. So determined! Brilliant! Just the type of employee you need in such a busy Faculty.
I will miss our chats about yoga and catching up with her college peer groups lives. You know who you are! I will miss her focus and positivity and her ability to rise above the everyday moans and I will miss walking into her class and watching her deliver classes. Its such a loss to our Faculty but I am thankful that she chose to come back to us to be our friend and colleague..
