April 28 Take Our Kids to Work Day, celebrated every year on the fourth Thursday of April. Take Our Kids to Work Day is an exciting day that gives the children of the U.S. or Canada a glimpse into the working world. As a result of this day, children get to learn about the workforce and they can see the different roles that are carried out by people to run a business. They might even find their interest in one of the fields. When Hana and Khurram were little they spent time at the skilled nursing homes where I worked. I loved having them be around people of all ages and abilities. Staff and residents loved to see and talk to my kids. With this experience I believe Hana and Khurram developed empathy for others. Idk if they have take your parent to work day, but Hana loved to share her work places with me and introduce me to her coworkers. I loved sharing this with her. Work is so much a part of our lives and I loved sharing it with my kids. Hana was always so proud of the work she did and the people she worked with. Hana shared her jobs from AMC movie theater, Best Buy, Key Medical Supply, Wells Fargo, LA Fitness, General Mills, Children’s MN, US Bank, Columbia Heights Public Schools, Minneapolis United Soccer, OHana Rentals, Fridley Senior High School, Garlough Environmental & Magnet School, Jenny Lind Elementary School
in addition to her basketball and soccer coaching through Fridley schools.
There were some jobs she didn’t have me go to for obvious reasons like her work at a group home for Creative Care Resources, Lyft, My 7on7 football passing league, Teachers on Call. Hana, I miss sharing our lives including our work, hopes, dreams, challenges, and your accomplishments. I love you and wish you were still here with me.
