I saw Gerry with a beaming smile, and he called out - "Dom's back! And he's brought an extra 12lbs with him!" - referring to my slight increase in plumpness.
It was as much as I expected and probably deserved, but typified the friendly, straight talking Gerry that made so many friends across the sport and beyond.
