I was shocked and saddened to hear the heartbreaking news of the passing of Dr. Fussum Daniel. I wanted to reach out to all of you who worked with him closely and express my most sincere condolences on this great loss of a dear colleague and friend. My heart goes out to his dear family who must be suffering tremendously as this tragic time.
Although my interactions with Fussum were limited to ESA related conferences and calls, he always made me feel welcomed and part of the group even when I was new to the HQ Immunization Dept. and didn’t know very many people. He was kind, inclusive and his energy and enthusiasm for his work was visible to me and I’m sure all around him. I know he will be deeply missed professionally and personally. It will be strange to not have his vivacious presence in the room anymore.
May all of you find God’s comfort and peace as you mourn this loss of a beloved colleague and friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you all and his family.
