Esther Kamhi was a devoted wife and mother and loved and was loved by all who knew her: her family, her community and her friends. Born in 1937 in Tetouan in Morocco, she lived her youth in Melilla in Spain before coming to live in London in 1964. There she married Rabbi David Kamhi who sadly passed away in 1979 from which point with an inner strength and devotion she single handedly raised their 3 young children Moshe, Leon and Michelle. She loved being with her sisters, brothers and cousins reminiscing and reliving their happy youth in Melilla. Over 50 years, she was devoted to the David Ishag Synagogue, Neveh Shalom Community. She adored everyone there and they adored her. She liked nothing more than to have her grandchildren around her. We last managed to get all the grandchildren together in December in Jerusalem and Eilat. She was overjoyed. Nothing made her happier. We will miss her lots. Her sudden and untimely death is difficult to bear. May her soul be bound up in the bundle of eternal life. Amen

Dear Leon,Moshe and Michelle, Daniel joins me in sending you our most sincere condolences for the loss of your dear Mother. Although I personally did not have the pleasure and honour of knowing your mum well, I felt so privileged to be part of the Zoom meeting on the last night of the shiva. I specifically wanted to let you know that I was deeply touched by the respectful and beautiful way in which the prayers and speeches were conducted. You mother was clearly a very special lady and she will be sorely missed by all those who knew her and loved her. I can only say that attending the zoom shiva meeting has inspired me to try to emulate some of your dear mother's wonderful midot, especially that of giving to others. Esther has left you a rich legacy that is clearly appreciated and she will no doubt continue to inspire her friends and family for many years to come. Daniel joins me in wishing you all long life. Dear Michelle, Moshe, Leon and families, I was so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing and wanted to send you all my sincere condolences. Although it has been almost 40 years since I got married and left England, I have fond memories of your mother. She was always so warm and welcoming whenever I would return home to visit my parents (Gladys and Cesar) and treated me like family. My Dear cousins, Moshe, Leon and beloved Michele and the rest of the family. It's so hard you and me know what is to loss a father and know you loss also a mother - its like to be in front of precipice and no longer know what to catch. Your dear and sweet mum was and will be for ever in our heart. She was always her for each of us, happy when we were happy and sad when the were sad. I always remind the time I past in her home with dad and her when all were no married and after when we take part in your barmitzva, your weeding and also Michelle one traveling from Paris always the home was open with love and worm .. always with a smile on its face .. unfortunately i don't have the opportunity to attend Leon's son barmitzva in Jerusalem and say her how we appreciate. How loved cousins no world could express the sadness - really could not speak because my voice is strait broken and my eyes are filled by tears. I just could pray that your closed family, Moshe, Leon and Michele will help to continue and I'm sure that far away she will be with each of you. It was with deep sadness that I learnt of the terrible news of your mother’s passing. I will never forget the few times I came to synagogue her warmth and beautiful smile and the welcome she gave to both myself and my late wife, Mimi. Coming to synagogue will never be the same again without her presence, she will be very sadly missed by all and I cannot imagine how the three of you and your family must feel. Dear Moshe , Leon, Michelle and all families During these exceptionally stressful times, a greater loss has impacted all of us . Esther z'l was not only an exceptional person, whose contagious smile is on everyone's mind but was a very friendly person.As we got to know her better we realised how lucky we were to have had our niece Myriam make part of a wonderful family. Esther instantly made us welcome and at every simha she was there to ensure we felt very welcome. Family unity was at the core of her values and we felt that at every moment. Losing a parent, and particularly a mother who brought up her children very much on her own is even a greater loss.We will certainly miss her and may G.od give all of us the strength during these difficult times.

She always gave me a huge hug every week. Dear Moshe, Leon and Michelle and all the family We were absolutely devastated to hear of the loss of your dear mum Esther - she was a mum to us all, an inspiration and a role model. I will always remember her warm and welcoming demeanour and the genuine love she bestowed on everyone, especially to Sophie - she always made a beeline for her and was quick to notice and comment on any changes as Sophie developed into a little girl. We will miss Esther immensely and the synagogue will not be the same place without her but her legacy carries on with you her children and her grandchildren. I will always remember Esther always smiling and happy to help at all times. I still have her recipes when she gave us all a cookery demonstration on how to make some Pesach delicacies. A true lady and with lots of inner strength. May she be at peace and smiling down on her dear children and grandchildren

Above all I feel her children and grandchildren’s pain. The void she leaves in their life will never be filled but her strength will continue to guide them throughout their lives and keep united. Esther was my friend, I shall miss her enthusiastic, affectionate greetings, especially on a Friday morning never to eat be missed, reminiscing, exchanging jokes and Spanish sayings. She had an incredible capacity for devotion and sympathy for others. She was an extraordinary strong woman who will continue to live among us, a beacon of light to accompany us. A loss to the family, friends and humanity.

Dear Michelle, Moshe, Leon and your families, We were so sorry and shocked to hear of the passing of your mother Esther. We wish you all lots of courage during this difficult time. I have very special memories of your mother , when I used to come over during Shabbat to have fun and play. She was an exceptional woman, an example to all the community. Always with a kind word and beautiful smile for everyone. She was such a dignified woman always caring for her family.
