Dr. Dion has always been there for me. I still feel as though I will receive an email from him any moment. It’s surreal to realize he’s gone. This is such a horrible and unexpected loss; I don’t want to believe it or even think about it. As my advisor, he has always been an intelligent and understanding person. I felt a friendship with him even before I joined his research group, and he became a father figure to me as we worked closer together these past few years. Dr. Dion helped shape my career and life so much. He provided me with the opportunity to meet and work with such wonderful and remarkable people. I’ll never have the chance to fully thank him, but I’ll strive to be the person he always pushed me to be. He has left behind an incredible career and made a beautiful impact on so many lives.
