We knew Derek mainly through the over 50's group of which he was a leader. His devotion to God was always evident and his care for people.
We remember particularly a seaside outing with the group on a blustery , showery day. Myself, Irene, Derek and 2 others braved a walk along the cliff and he insisted on taking a group photograph. I'm sure we looked our best, cold and windswept but he made us all laugh.
As the rain got worse we sheltered on the pier and chatted and laughed together, especially when Irene realised her seat was wet!
Great memories!
