Dennis Shepard
February 2, 1941 – July 22, 2025
Dennis Shepard, a beloved father, grandfather, and lifelong musician, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. He was 84.
Born in Los Angeles on February 2, 1941, Dennis grew up with an ear for music and a deep appreciation for the arts. From a young age, he was drawn to the rhythms of jazz, a passion that would become a defining part of his life. As an accomplished jazz musician, Dennis spent decades honing his craft, performing, and sharing the magic of music with those fortunate enough to hear him play.
Beyond his musical gifts, Dennis had a lifelong love affair with classic cars. He found joy in restoring vintage automobiles, appreciating the history and craftsmanship behind every curve and chrome detail. His garage was often filled with the sounds of both saxophone melodies and the hum of an engine being brought back to life.
Later in life, Dennis made his home in Boise, Idaho, where he spent over ten years enjoying the slower pace of life, the warmth of community, and time with family. He brought his signature wit, warmth, and wisdom to all those who knew him.
Dennis is survived by his loving son Scott, devoted daughter-in-law Elizabeth, and his cherished grandchildren Noah, Scarlett, and Ruby, who will carry forward his legacy of curiosity, creativity, and resilience.
In honor of Dennis’s wishes, there will be no formal service. Instead, the family kindly asks that donations be made in his name to the Prostate Cancer Foundation: www.pcf.org.
Dennis's life was one of rhythm, grace, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
