Denis' departure has been the saddest news I have ever received. Denis was a real friend, an encouraging mentor, and more he was a person who really cared for people. He was able there to help, humble despite his many accomplishments. He certainly helped me a lot when I needed him and gave me the support that no one else would give. He is an irreplaceable person, and anyone who met him will know how fortunate they have been. I remember discussing research with him in cafe's in Manchester and Toulouse, and he always had an intelligent and encouraging thing to say. And of course, his words were always full of love and admiration whenever he talked about Ania and Victoria. I will miss him very much.
