David was my former boss at the Faculty of Education. He was a one-off & made the University of Cambridge a much kinder & more welcoming place for me & many others. He stuck up for people & causes he believed in, and always seemed to get his own way. He was unflappable, wise, funny & full of life. He made friends wherever he went. I will miss washing his tea-stained mug & our lovely lunches in Homerton (aways hoping for rhubarb crumble for pudding). He adored his family, and delighted in being surrounded by strong & clever women at work and at home. Go well dear man.
