My son Max whom Craig fondly nicknamed ‘Echidna’ was fortunate to have Mr Prior as his favorite teacher and mentor for the past 3 years. Craig appreciated Echidna’s crazy hair (hence the nickname), was patient when he stuck his nose into other things and gently guided him back when he could see him ambling towards the highway. Craig’s ability to capture my meandering Echidna’s attention with his ever present smile, caring demeanor and jovial humor will greatly be missed by both of us.
Craig I spoke to you about your passion for teaching, a profession you came to later in life out of a desire to make the world a better place and I conveyed to you my gratitude for your choice. I made an effort to email you on World Teachers Day last year, to which you replied “Thank you…that means a lot!” but I am not sure if you ever fully understood the love and admiration your students had for you. I wish you could still be here smiling out from underneath your Vanessa Amorosi cap that Echidna gave you, may you continue to be ever present in our thoughts and prayers as we picture you wearing it proudly whilst reciting your latest Dad joke. Your time with us may have been short but your profound impact will be everlasting.
