We have created this page to allow us all to remember Claire, who was quite simply a wonderful person as well as being the most popular, admired and loved colleague. At the moment, circumstances mean that we are unable to gather to pay our respects to Claire and celebrate her life. Yet it is important for us all as friends of Claire to come together and remember her, sharing our memories of her and smiling about the good times we had collectively. Claire was a big part of our 'family' and there was such collective delight when she got married and the birth of baby Callum. Many of us were so looking forward to her return to work having missed her smile and warm reassuring personality. Claire touched so many of our lives in such a meaningful and positive way. We hope you will use this page to share memories as well as messages of condolence to Claire's family - which we will ensure reach them. The firm has been in constant contact with Claire's parents and husband and we are doing everything we can to support them through such a difficult time.

Since joining the firm, in particular the Public Sector team, Claire has always been such a friendly face, a colleague to rely on and someone who you could trust. My life at HM will definitely not be the same without her. She has been such a massive help to me, always promptly responding to email requests for weird and wonderful information, usually when we're looking for something that we know was put into a tender but couldn't remember which one - Claire would always be able to find it and do it with a smile! More recently, I had the pleasure working with Claire on a number of events and you could just tell that she cared so much and was very good at her job, particularly whenever things went wrong! When Claire got engaged, she got married the month before me and we always ended up having many wedding chats (and moans) outside the toilets on the fourth floor. I will miss Claire greatly, my thoughts go out to her family and to her colleagues in the Marketing team. Kelly x

We didn't work together often, but when I did get the opportunity to work with Claire, it was clear I was working alongside someone who took great pride in her work. Claire was tied to so many of the positive aspects of life at HM, it's hard to imagine her not being there. Claire had a knack of motivating everyone around her just by being in the room. She was the perfect balance of professionalism and warmth. She was a real role model. She always had time for a catch up in the kitchen or for follow up questions on a tender - anything really - regardless of how busy she was. She took time for people and helped however she could. I'll miss hearing Claire's laugh all the way from the other side of the office. She'll never be forgotten. Kx

Dear Claire, When I joined Harper Macleod and I didn’t know anyone you were one of the people that had a very reassuring smile! You made me feel so comfortable at my interview when I was applying to the marketing team and the joy on your face when I told you that I’m part of the HM Connect was so genuine and supportive. Although, we haven’t had a lot of time to get to know each other better and build memories I’m sure that it would have been full of laughter! Im wishing your family all the very best, to stay strong and lots of love to baby Callum ❤️ Claire, you are forever in our hearts! Xx

Claire, to me you were the best work colleague one could have - you were very professional in everyting you did but you always had a smile and nothing was too much trouble for you. I always knew when you were working on something that nothing other than a polished document would leave our office but that you would also find time to laugh about some of the funny moments in preparing for pitches or the idiosyncracies of those we dealt with. Hope you are at peace.

Although I only worked with Claire for a few short months since joining the Marketing team, it was an absolute delight working with her. Claire was one of the first people I met and talked to at HM and I could instantly tell how kind, caring and warm she was. She was influential in helping me to settle in so well and in getting to know everyone. Claire was also so approachable and if I ever had any issues, she would always be willing to help and with a smile too. What was very clear from the start was just how much Claire was loved by all at HM and the positivity she brought to everyone. For such a short time, her impact on my life at HM has been huge and I will sorely miss her. My thoughts go out to her family at this time. X

I didn't work directly with Claire but we would bump into each other on the stairs or lift. Claire always had a big smile on her face and a kind word for everyone she bumped into. RIP Claire, you will be sorely missed xx

Many of us have worked alongside Claire for such a long time it's safe to say we've all grown up (but not old) together and for us, the loss to Callum, Ally, her parents, family and friends is unimaginable because of the impact she had on us. Claire was such a kind, generous and thoughtful person, I used to jokingly call her HM's Princess Diana because of all the charity work she was involved with and encouraged. We've always worked hard and laughed harder and it's difficult to think of Claire without hearing her laugh – it could be heard across the whole floor of the office. We had so much fun working as a team that it didn't feel like work at all. There have been so many events we've celebrated over the years - singing and dancing all the way - that I struggle to think of just one moment or memory. It makes me both happy and extremely sad that our last big celebrations were all in honour of Claire (much to her embarrassment). An engagement, wedding, big birthday and the arrival of baby Callum, there was a lot to celebrate. The wait for the official wedding photographs had us on pins and needles for weeks – we just couldn't wait to see Claire on her special day. I was so excited to hear all about the next chapter with Ally and baby Callum. To me, Claire wasn't just about the fun times; she was smart, kind, thoughtful, sweet, and empathetic to everyone's feelings. She always made everyone feel included and always put others ahead of herself. She helped so many of us get through tough times just by being a kind and compassionate person. I'll forever be grateful to have known Claire and will miss her terribly.

Claire although I didn't work with you directly, when we bumped into each other in the office you at the top of the building and me at the bottom, it was just as if we had spoken that day. As the oldest serving member of staff at Harper Macleod I can honestly say hand on heart that you were one of the nicest people any of us could ever have known. You were always so smiley, full of fun and caring. It was so lovely to see you getting married and then having Callum. You will be so missed by everyone at Harper Macleod and by me personally and, will never be forgotten by anyone who knew and loved you.x

Claire was one of the first to welcome me into the marketing department. No matter what, she always had the time to answer any questions or just check in to see how you were doing. One of my fondest memories is having a wee girly roadtrip to the National Housing Conference last year. She took Ciara and myself in her new car and showed us all the sights of Dunblane and where she grew up. I only had the pleasure of knowing Claire for a short time, but she definitely made an impact on me and her infectious smile and caring nature will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

Claire it was such a pleasure to work across from you. Although I was one for always having my screens closed together it was always good to open them up or pop my head over (meerkat like) to get your help and advice, which was never an issue for you no matter how busy you were. It wasn't all work, I loved to catch up with you on what was happening at the weekends or vent our frustrations from the working week (we all have them). No matter what you did it was always done with such an energy which was infectious on everyone around you. Your laughing outbursts when listening into some of the ridiculous department chats over the years, when we didn't think you were tuned in, was hilarious. All of this and more is why we will miss you so much but like everyone you met, you've left a lasting impression that means you'll never be forgotten. I must also thank you for allowing me to experience my first, and to date my only, Hen Party! One of many great memories we have as a department to remember. Thank you for everything Claire. xx

Having worked alongside Claire for so many years it is so difficult to imagine the HM office without her, Claire was part of the heart and soul of HM. Claire, you were a beautiful girl, with a huge smile that would always spend time to ask how I was and how my kids were coming along, you never missed an opportunity to connect with people. We spent many an afternoon gabbing in the kitchen about anything and everything, having a laugh, and it is little moments like that that I will truly miss. When you had heard that my mum was terminally ill last year you took time to reach out to me, you were compassionate, warm, caring and always took the time to listen and I will always remember that. I was delighted when you got married and then found out that you were having baby Callum, it was such an exciting chapter in your hew life as a mum to be and you just glowed. Claire, it was an honour to have known you and to have worked alongside you and I will miss you, you are in my thoughts and prayers xx

Today, I said goodbye to you Claire. So much has been said about your wonderful contribution to the whole family of Harper Macleod. It is difficult to put into a few short sentences our 18 years of growing up together in HM. Claire you played a part in everything that is good about HM and you always acted with such care, grace and elegance, while always putting others first. We developed a brilliant relationshsip and worked so closely that when my phone went on holiday my children would always assume and shout "it's Claire! " and at times they would answer your calls and chat and I will never forget when the boys decide to sing to you. Harper Macleod and I have lost a true colleague of choice. I will miss you greatly Claire, forever in my thoughts and prayers.

I cant adequately put into words how much I will miss Claire .She was the best colleague any of us in Harper Macleod could have wished for .She was my most favourite ,lovely person . Claire joined us from University in July 2002. An inspired choice of Laura Vernett and they were to become the best of friends as well as business Partners in HM . Claire quickly became the most popular of colleagues and nothing was ever too much trouble for her . She had an amazing ,disarming smile . I always felt her smile melted away any business worries or concerns I had . She was ,without doubt ,the most admired and loved colleague in HM . As the world of legal services changed we moved to a new opportunity of competitive tendering for legal work , mostly from hoped for Public Sector clients . Claire took on the role as head of tenders and without her , HM would not be the success it now is . Claire cared passionately about the Firm . She recognised that being successful in our tender opportunities could help us climb the ladder from the level of a very small firm to what we are now - one of Scotland’s largest and leading law firms . Claire worked patiently and tirelessly to produce the best tender responses we could and often where we had little or no track record in the area of work . We consistently beat the best of our competitors and under Claire’s careful direction became “the firm to watch” . I remember several occasions working on tenders into the early hours with Claire and Laura and ordering takeaways to keep us all going until the tender was completed . No matter how tired Claire was - the tender response needed to be perfect . With Claire in charge ,we consistently won against the odds confounding even some sceptics from within the Firm who expressed the view that the tender was unwinnable . I am in no doubt that without Claire many of us would either not be with HM or would not be carrying out the legal services requirement of many of our key Public Sector clients . Her contribution to HM’s success was immense and unique . She was a joy to work with and never complained even in the most trying of circumstances . She won everybody over with her smile and warm personality . Nobody wanted to let Claire down . She organised numerous client events and conferences .She was the best of us all as an ambassador for the behaviours and culture of HM . So many of our stakeholders and clients will miss Claire too . On hearing of Claire’s passing it was for everyone a painful and terrible shock . For me it is now a lasting, persistent sadness coupled with bewilderment . When Claire announced her engagement to Ally we were all just so thrilled .Our favourite person was to move into a new world of happiness and fulfillment.The birth of Callum was met with collective joy and celebration . We were just so pleased for Claire . I was forever pestering Laura - how is Claire ,baby Callum and Ally ? Her happiness was not just important but a source of joy to so many of us . All in HM will miss Claire .She touched so many of our lives in such a positive and meaningful way . I miss and will miss Claire immeasurably. I will always smile when I think of Claire and be thankful that she was an important person in my life . Lorne

Where do I begin? Working side by side for so many years there's no shortage of happy memories. I would often call you Sophie because you were like family to me & you would listen to the many Sophie & Jamie stories, always with a smile. Sophie still has Buster, named after your mum & dad's dog. Glasgow 2014 was a special time and we managed to pull it off with a lot of work & a lot of laughs. I never saw you so excited as when we met the Royals - especially Prince Harry (I think he quite liked meeting you too). I was over the moon when you met Ally and was able to share your special day. You were the most beautiful bride. And then baby Callum came along and to see you as a mummy was just amazing. Keep shining my special friend x
