A Life Well-Lived and Deeply Loved
Chief Isaac Nnemenum Okonu (JP) was a man of honor, wisdom, and generosity. His life touched countless others through his kindness, leadership, and unwavering dedication to his family and the academic community.
He served in several academic institutions including University of Port Harcourt where he was the Acting Busar and Head of Works Dept in the late 80s, he later went on to serve as one of the pioneer Acting Busars of The Federal College of Education (Technical) FCET Omoku before moving down to Rivers State Polytechnic Bori where he initially worked as the Acting Busar/Head of Service, and then Senior Lecturer in Banking and Financial, He later rose to become the of Head of Banking and Finance Department, Director Entrepreneurship Development Centre, and Coordinator Part-Time Postgraduate centre Phc. He dedicated a significant part of his life to the development of the polytechnic education system in Nigeria and served with distinction as the Chairman NBTE curriculum review committee for ND and HND programs in Nigerian Polytechnics. He was also an internationally recognised scholar and author with numerous publications including The Growth of Public Expenditure in Nigeria since 1950, Public spending and economic growth in Nigeria both published by the famous University of wales, (U.C.N.W. Bangor) United Kingdom.
Chief I. N Okonu (JP) was also a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CBIN) and an active member of the Polytechnic governing council, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Emohua Council of Chiefs, Ogbo-esator Emohua, Elite social club of Emohua, and Ogbakor Ikwerre cultural association of Nigeria to mention a few.
