Like many others, Brendan started as a teacher in my life, but soon became a close friend. His knowledge and his eagerness to share it were unique. His kindness and patience have already been noted by many. He lived his last years happily in Hoedspruit, loving the peace and tranquility, and his online teaching. Brendan's passing is a blow beyond academia, and I feel the loss acutely as his friend. My condolences to Di, Brigid, Cedric and the rest of the family.
