I am still unable to believe that you are no longer with us. I took 5 day's time thinking that with time I will accept this loss. Still not able to. Writing this makes it permanent which is why I didn’t want to do this. But I guess that’s the least I could do now, to celebrate you for the person you were. Thousands of memories and an ocean of emotions!!! Wanted to work in CL department inspired by you, Madhu and Amudha. I had the pleasure of working with you after one year of my graduation. It was one of the best times of my life. The department was like an oasis in the desert. You were a true mentor, people can learn a lot from just observing you or being with you. I learned not just clinical skills but also confidence and the way to carry myself. Be it any situation you had taught me to tackle it with a smile. You made me believe in myself and I can do it. No words to truly tell what you mean to me. I can’t imagine the CL department without you!!! You were always a reason for me to come back there, just to meet everyone and catch up with each other, I guess now I lost a major reason to go back. Wish I had one last time with you, before you went. May your soul rest in peace mam. You will now always be our guardian angel.

This is so hard to come to terms with. Raji, I've always been in awe at your tenacity, determination, grit, resilience and for being a trail blazer in our field. Now, I also see how mentally strong you were. The last time I saw you was in SN during our visit in June 2018. I was so proud of what you have achieved. I met you in your office to your endearing beautiful smile. We talked about the your work and about the standards that was set for the students that work with you and I could see how everyone revered and respected you. We met with Sangeetha and went to the canteen and you were so wonderful to my daughter. I am glad to have such a happy memory of you. I will also never forget your visit to Boston. We got to spend an extra unplanned evening with you because you took the bus that ended up heading in the opposite direction. You even hesitated to call us even then as you thought it was troubling us. But I cherish that evening and the conversations we had. Your presentation at Boston foundation was received in awe. You missed your daughter so much and I could see how much family meant to you. Raji, I will miss you dearly. Your work will continue to shine through but time hopefully will give us the strength to heal but the void you left behind will never be filled.

Her beautiful smile is what is flashing in my mind. Her daughter smiles the same way. She was a great mentor and an amazing teacher. I could not have asked for more when I got the opportunity to learn under her. When I asked her if she could be my guide for ever. She said of course. She kept her promise in the best possible ways. I think many students would have the same things to say about her. That charming smile always. I bow down to you. May God give the strength to the family.

I woke up today to this photo in my watsapp and I looked at it a thousand times wishing that it is not what it is. May be an invitation to celebrate another recent achievement of hers..may be she got an award ...a promotion...another paper....featured in the news..this is the endless list that would be associated with Raji. As a teacher she was very passionate and giving...as a colleague she was very respectful and genuine...as a mom she was the sweetest ..in short, she excelled in everything she committed herself to. I am in complete shock! My prayers..

Raji mam! This is how I scream at you! The tone would change depending on my emotions and you know what to offer - be it a hug or words of wisdom or just a smile! Riz...Solluda! And then I gush out like a storm! Now you have become this all encompassing, ever loving, omnipresent source of love and light! Just that I don't know how to figure this out! There are people who when you see for the first time - you have no idea that they are going to become a part of your life! That's what I feel now! A part of my soul is being taken

Couldnt believe that your are not with us Raji mam. I and sowji cannot forget thoes days of mphil 2010 to 2012. You were always a good mentor and well wisher and took care of us throughout our project. The role we had in eivoc 2010. Can add on and on...still if i close my eyes and think you are sitting in the chair in your CL room. When will we see you again there. Thoes slit lamps will search you. Your patients are waiting for you. But no answer for all this here after. May god be with your family mam. May all your dream about Ashwini come true. God has a good reason for all happenings. May this also be one. God give strength to her family, friends, students, staffs and patients to accept her demise.

Raji, how you managed being an accomplished clinician, educator, researcher, global speaker, in addition to being a dedicated mom, it's always amazed me. I remember asking you this at one of the meetings, and you simply smiled. At another meeting, we missed seeing each other, and you thoughtfully left me a memento with one of our classmates. Your aspiring, hard working and caring nature will always remain your legacy, for your family, friends and students. You were a strong fighter, with the most beautiful smile. I still can't bring myself to accept that this is a memorial. BO10 will miss you, gone too soon friend.

Dear mam, your were very supportive during my Masters program and during viva. You made the subject easy and made sure we learnt the maximum. Used to wonder on hearing your Marathon experiences. It's unfortunate that i didn't happen to work much with you. You will be missed mam.

Though I don't have any memories of you from ESO as I had left college much earlier, I have many fond memories while working with you during Fellowships and M.Optom started at TSNA.. Always well planned, and meticulous in execution, you were the reason why so many candidates were able to be trained in contact lenses over the years. You added best practices to teaching and training and I saw that students respected and loved you...Soft spoken with a short laugh and ever smiling, we spoke more over phone than we met due to our location and schedule... have learnt a lot from you during our interactions over the years and cherish them always...will always regret not having a proper goodbye and meet you in person during the last one year...#gone too soon #miss you dear colleague # God bless your family

Just a year senior in college, Raji was always very kind, calm and pleasant person to be around. I remember her as a very focused and hard working girl with goals and standards very high. After moving out of India, I met her during every visit to SN and she was always grounded and beautiful and affectionate as the first day I met her despite her many achievements and accolades. She always spoke about contributing more to Optometry and the community and she always dedicated her achievements to our dear Dr EV who was her role model and guiding spirit. Her loss is irreplaceable to her dear family, friends and the entire optometry community. Prayers and strength to the family during this very difficult time.

Raji, sometimes, I have wanted to connect with someone from our 90s optometry days, someone who would understand me. I cannot express how relieved I was to share so many good memories and laughs with you as batch mates. Sadly, I won't have that anymore. I will miss you deeply.

Raji will be deeply missed. We were all part of ‘BO10’ at the Elite School of Optometry and shared many fun times in our four years together. Even in those days Raji was a great role model for her peers and a trail blazer. She was probably the first of our classmates to come to ESO on a ‘Scooty’ and I have fond memories of her on her ‘Scooty’ with her helmet on giving her classmates a ride home! At a time when I was just beginning to understand what a ‘conference abstract’ meant Raji had already submitted an abstract to an international conference and attended one. She always had the foresight to look ahead. Over the years we all kept in touch, first through yahoo groups and more recently through WhatsApp. I always felt a sense of pride when I heard about Raji’s achievements, there were so many both on a national and an international stage. Raji gave so much to the optometry community and her patients in the short time she was with us. She showed us all that anything is possible. My deepest condolences to her family and friends.

I still remember during our internship, we had the IACLE exam. Raji mam, inspite of her health issues and busy schedule she came to ESO, just to give us valuable tips and tell us all the best for the exam. Such a sweet heart. She will always be remembered as a pioneer in CL optometry.
