I am shocked and deeply saddened by Jonathan's tragic death.
He was a wonderful friend and colleague to me: clever, funny, perceptive and deftly pragmatic, brilliant at finding ways through the knottiest of problems. He loved Cambridge and its wonders while being clear sighted about its foibles.
He helped me hugely, especially in linking the Press better to the rest of the university. Later after he left the Old Schools we built relationships together between Cambridge and FutureLearn. We laughed at stories about characters we both knew from our schooldays near Bury St Edmunds only a few years apart, and took great pleasure in the time we shared. I will miss him
My thoughts are with Sue and the rest of his family at this most difficult time.
