I had the honor of carrying out my PhD research in the same lab with Dion in Cincinnati, under the guidance of Makram Suidan. Dion was my big brother, he was everybody's big brother. We in the lab all counted on him always being there for us with wise words of encouragement and support. He was dedicated to the highest quality in everything that he did and most of all he was a caring mentor to students, post-docs, and junior faculty. He was also very supportive of the careers of aspiring women scientists and engineers, and he organized excellent ACS symposia highlighting women leaders in the field. I will always cherish the opportunity that I had to finally see him in his home element in Cyprus, where the XENOWAC II conference was held in 2018. We had such a good time eating amazing food and dancing- Opa! Dion, your memory will always be loved and cherished. I pray that God will keep your family close during this difficult time.
