Dino Zappi

August 7, 1957 - April 11, 2020

Dino Zappi passed away on April 11, 2020 surrounded by his girls: wife Lorraine and daughters Lisa and Vanessa. He is remembered every day. Please share your favourite memories, stories and photos of Dino here! Born in August 1957, in the city he loved fiercely, Montreal. He was the youngest of 7 children to an Italian-immigrant family. He would meet the love of his life, Lorraine, at Champlain College in September, 1976 by offering her his seat. They married a few short years later in May, 1979. Before long, they would welcome two daughters: Lisa and Vanessa and arguably a third child - Sport, a schnauzer/poodle mix. Dino approached life with passion and resourcefulness and would offer anyone the shirt off his back. From an early age, he loved classic cars, eventually owning and restoring several over the years. Later, he turned his attention towards motorcycles, customizing their finest details to meet his discerning eye for style. He embraced life, finding joy in travelling or sharing a meal with those he loved most, often found tinkering with recipes to make the best barbecued Italian pizza. He loved and protected animals, in particular dogs. He had a profound impact on people, not just family and friends, but coworkers, acquaintances and even strangers, often lifting others up with inspiring anecdotes and his good humour. Taken too soon from this life, his gifts of passion and perseverance will live on through us. <3

To my friend Dino…. I miss you brother, I can still hear your voice in my mind and still see your smile in my thoughts. I felt deeply connected to you as I feel we shared the same demons….you calmed my soul when I wasn’t feeling well…I only hope I did the same for you. I could remember being lost in my mind, jumping on my bike to get away from it and finding you and Philipo at a coffee shop…your very presence made everything ok, life was grand again. You cleared sky’s and brought sunshine…regardless of the situation. Thank you brother for touching my soul…and understanding me. Stay strong in heaven, ride hard and show god how proud he is of you…just like you did to all of us! My deepest condolences to the family, I will always be here to help and I am close…it’s what a man does for his friend. Again, I miss you Dino
