Deon invited me and my husband over to SA in 2013 to give a statistics course and he was such an amazing host! He took us over to the stadium to have a braai and watch the Springboks, we were invited to a goodbye party of a colleague, he took us on a safari trip and invited us in his home to have dinner with the family. The only day that we didn't see him during our trip was on Father's Day, which says something about his priorities :) Apart from all the things that he did for us, it was a great joy to be around him. Deon would always laugh the loudest about his own jokes. Even though the trip was years ago, we regularly thought about him and the amazing time we had in SA.
