It was with great sadness that I learned about Denis passing. He was one of the most solid and thoughtful voices in social psychology, whose work on collective memory brought new vistas and concepts to the field. I remember his unassuming, kind and always gentle demeanour at scientific meetings and after work dinners. A real listener, he was also gregarious and a collaborator cherished by all who had the privilege of working with him. My deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues; we all lost so much with his passing but his influence on us will continue.
