I am shocked and saddened to hear this news. Dr. Lertzman was a phenomenal leader. Passionate about life and the wilderness, making the impossible possible. I took one of his leadership courses in the MBA program at U of C and I remember the class Brett Tee brought her baby girl (at the time) to class and Dr. Lertzman was delighted! He talked about that night’s class topic for a bit, but then he stopped and we sang songs, as if we were around a bond-fire, to entertain the sweet baby! He was exceptional and a one-of-a-kind. I remember thinking “wow, I want to be inspiring, interesting, and a leader like him.” One of the absolute best instructors and people I have ever known. He will be forever missed and never forgotten. My dearest sympathies to his family, friends, colleagues, and students.
