Dato’ Dr Anthonysamy Savarinathan

Dato Anthonysamy has been a pillar of strength and a beacon for CDAM. He leaves a wife Patricia and two children. He was a staunch Catholic and attended the Good Shepherd Church, Setapak. For the past 30 years, Dato Anthonysamy has been active in helping people of every race and religion. He has his own clinic in Jalan Ampang K. Lumpur where he would give either free treatment or just charge for the medication. Dato was active in helping out at CDAM's many Outreach Programs including the following: CDAM’s free clinic at Zotung Centre in Jalan Loke yew K. Lumpur to treat the Chin Community (Myanmarese) This clinic is run fortnightly by Dato and a few CDAM Doctors on rotation basis. Deworm Program in K. Lumpur to treat children of the various migrant communities. This program was started by Dr. Gladis Lawrence. For the past 3 years Dato helped to set up the Samaritan Hope Home in Jalan Pudu K. Lumpur for the Homeless in K. Lumpur to provide medical care and food for the Homeless. We have a clinic there which is run fortnightly by Dato, Sister Fatima and some volunteer doctors and other helpers.Due to the MCO the clinics temporarily closed. On the International Scene Dato had until recently been attending AFCMA (Asian Federation of Catholic Medical Association)'s Congresses which is held in different Asian Countries every 4 years whereby doctors from all over Asia get together to enjoy and strenghten their fellowship besides exchanging scientific information and matters pertaining to defending our Catholic Church's Teachings. Dato Anthonysamy was appointed as a Vice President of AFCMA at the AFCMA Congress in Bali, Indonesia. Dato was always a humble and compassionate Catholic Doctor. CDAM will miss him. We hope that our young doctors will try to emulate him. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Amen. Prepared by Dr. Freddie Loh Vice President CDAM.

Dr Anthony was a man who was selfless in service, generous in making time, and steadfast in the faith. He epitomises what it means to be a Catholic healthcare professional in the mould of Jesus, who came to serve and not to be served. His friendship, hospitality, and welcoming smile will be missed by all. To the family, life brings tears, smiles, and memories... the tears will dry, the smiles might fade, but the memories live on forever. Dr. Anthony will be remembered fondly. “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he dies, yet shall he live” (John 11:25). Dr. Anthony, may you now see your Redeemer face to face, and enjoy the beatific vision of God, forever. Amen.
