Daniel "Jack" Sahadeo was born on May 19, 1956 to parents Nathaniel and Seleina Sahadeo. His early childhood and teenage years were difficult ones, marked by hard work in the sugar cane and rice fields. At the age of 18, he grabbed the opportunity to work on board a ship and left Trinidad. He would go on to work on four different ships and travel to several countries. Whilst on board, he was encouraged to study and was able to pursue his GCSE qualifications. Upon in return to Trinidad, his studies saw him being appointed as a Teacher in the Presbyterian Primary School system. From that point, he would rise to the rank of Principal (Primary), a position he would hold for more than half of his teaching career. In 1988, Jack married Jasodrah, a union which produced two children, Michael and Nerissa
